Top 3 Easy Trails for Fall Foliage Trail Runs

Where’s the best place to see leaves changing in the Sierra Nevada?

The fall foliage season in California's Sierra Nevada can be quite short, so try and get out soon to see these leaves change or mark your calendar for next year!

1) Lake Tahoe Region: Spooner Lake

The Spooner Lake region on the East Shore of Lake Tahoe holds some of Lake Tahoe's biggest aspen groves. Follow a 2.5 mile loop around the lake or extend onward towards Marlette Peak or the Flume Trail.

2) Eastern Sierra: June Lake

There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy leaves changing around June Lake in the Eastern Sierra. You can enjoy views of aspen groves from many of the campsites in town, or head to Silver Lake along the June Lake scenic loop. For short trail run with amazing views, head to Parker Lake for a 3.6 mile out and back through the aspens to the lake!

3) Mammoth Lakes: Convict Lake

Convict Lake is a stunning lake beneath Laurel Mountain and the impressive range outside of Mammoth Lakes. A rolling 2.5 mile loop circles the lake, or you can add on (with quite a bit of climbing) towards Lake Dorothy. Fall foliage and changing leaves normally peak around this time of year, so head out there before the next round of snow!
