“Hands down the best vacation I’ve ever taken. The Dolomites were spectacular, and Liz did a great job ensuring people of all abilities had a wonderful time. The group was the perfect size - and we all got along great! The food at the Refugios was great and the wine and company was even better. I absolutely loved this trip and would recommend it to anyone!”
“This trip was hands down the coolest and most awesome thing I have ever done. Liz Gill is a rockstar. I couldn’t have imagined a better guide to lead this trip of a lifetime. The breathtaking beauty of the Dolomites cannot be properly captured by photographs which means you must go and see it for yourself! There is no one better than Liz Gill to take you!”
“I’m still riding a high from this trip. I’m so thankful for our organizer, Liz, who is a logistical genius. Because everything was planned and ready to go long before we began our trek, I was able to be entirely present for the duration of our journey. When you’re hiking or running through the Dolomites and staying in unique, culture-rich refugios every night, the ability to “take it all in” is of utmost importance. In addition to gaining new perspectives on both culture and adventure, I gained something much more valuable—a new appreciation for the beauty of friendship and community. You just can’t put a price on that!”
“An absolutely great experience with similar-minded people! Truly exceeded my expectations! Amazing scenery, great balance between running and other activities, and great food! Highly recommended!!”
“I had the best experience - great people, challenging terrain, beautiful views, and I am already planning to do it again in 2024. ”
“Wow. The Patagonia Runcation was absolute perfection. We explored the Perito Moreno glacier together before heading up to El Chaltén for arguably some of the most beautiful running scenery in the world. Every day was designed to challenge us on the trails but each run was accompanied by rewarding views that seemed almost too beautiful for reality. I particularly appreciated the balance of trail running with other non-running activities, including the glacier viewing and the Estancia lunch and activities. The entire trip was expertly designed and organized and I would do this Runcation again in a heartbeat. To top it all off, everyone in the group bonded quickly over our love of running and adventure and we now have 13 new friends from around the world!”
“The tldr: Do it! This was an amazingly well planned trip (thoughtful planning, clearly),, the runs and views were unforgettable, and I’m already looking at the next one I can go on. The longer version: Runcation in Patagonia was amazing. Every thing was well-planned, the views were unforgettable, the crew was the best you could ask for, we stayed at nice spots with great staff...I could go on and on. Also, as someone who is super type-A, I really appreciate all of the early communication of expectations, what to pack, itineraries, and super quick responses from Liz.”
“This was my first trip with Runcation. I was really impressed with the organization, the guides, the accommodations and the communication levels. Two of the people on the trip were on their second runcation which is a great sign. I will definitely do another trip with them!”
“I’m so glad Runcation Travel exists! My partner and I wanted to run the Tour du Mont Blanc and had no idea where to start planning, and all of the guide services were for backpacking or a group. We stumbled across Runcation and booked within a day. Liz and her team were great and thorough. We were completely set, and the MAGICAL trip went smoothly and without issue. I’ll definitely use them again next time we head out for an adventure.”
“This was a trip of a lifetime for us. As mountain runners, we couldn’t have been in a better place. Our guide was so accommodating, fun, and knowledgable. We were so lucky to have such a wonderful group of runners who all seemed to be at the same level. The hotels were just incredible, the food so delicious, and because I’ve talked about this trip so much, I’m sure that some of my friends will be signing up. Thank you Runcation!! I’m not sure how we can ever top this trip. ”
“The Runcation team were super smooth to communicate with, pulling together a plan that suited my solo run/hike plan for TMB in August. The organisation was easy, the program included all the necessary information, and the luggage service was incredible and made the fastpack fully possible. Coming from Australia and never been on these trails - Runcation took away all the ‘unknown’ in making this adventure epic. Gaia maps was very accurate and had no issues throughout the entire trip, and was easy to change trails to fit in all that I wanted to explore/see/do. Runcation team also emailed information re: major weather events, trail challenges to help preparation. Totally recommend this team for any adventure, the TMB was such a great adventure, will be doing more in the future. Thanks 🤩”
“The New Year’s Patagonia Runcation: Trail Running El Chalten was an incredible trip. Liz, the guide, was conscientious, organized, and knew exactly what we were doing and where we were going at all times. I had an amazing trip, got to get some incredible runs and views, and met some fantastic people in the process. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who is looking to run off the beaten path, meet new people, and experience Patagonia like no one else typically does. Liz, thank you for your ongoing excellence, and I look forward to another trip in the future!”
“I would give this trip and experience more stars if I could. It was so well planned and SO much fun. A runcation is absolutely the perfect vacation for me! Our group was the greatest mix of kind, fun, friendly people, and we had the best guides. The runs were incredible—the perfect combination of challenging and fun—and our guides did a great job navigating some tricky weather to make sure we still had a terrific experience. Liz really knocked it out of the park in planning this runcation! The hotels were AWESOME, I loved having group dinners at night, and the runs and views were spectacular. All around such a great experience, and one that I definitely hope to do again some day!”
“This trip exceeded our expectations on every level. All of the accommodations booked by Runcation were great. We had a good mix of hotel and refuge/hut stays, and they were all very comfortable. Some were quirkier than others, but it was all part of the charm. They were all clean and had warm showers, so it beat camping by a long shot. We were also very grateful for the luggage transfers, which all worked flawlessly. It was SO NICE to only carry a daypack each day. We did a self-guided trip, which meant that Runcation provided us with a brief description of each day’s trek along with the GAIX track for each day. It was perfect for the style of trek/travel that we like to do. When paired with a book about the Tour du Mont Blanc, we had all the info we needed. Runcation did the heavy lifting on the logistics which meant that we could just enjoy the trails, scenery, and food :-) We would definitely book with Runcation again.”
“My trip to Machu Picchu with runcation was a blast. Liz organized an incredible itinerary and all plans throughout the trip flowed seamlessly. The trail guides were awesome and able to accommodate all levels of trail running skill, and even gave us tips. The trails were seriously challenging and made me feel accomplished at the end of every day. We also had an expert historical guide throughout the trip explaining to us everything we were seeing. Views throughout the entire trek were gorgeous!Accommodations were great— The hotels were nice and when we moved on to camping the team did everything to make sure we were comfortable. Hot meals were provided and tents and sleeping pads were set up for us every evening. Hot water for getting washed up was brought to our tent every morning and coffee too! It was fun getting to know other runners from around the world that came out for this trip.”
“This was truly a trip of a lifetime! The Dolomites were unbelievable, Cortina was a great place to call home base, and our guide was super friendly and had extensive knowledge of the local trails and ensured we made the most of our time there. Highly recommend!”
“This was our second tour with Runcation (the first was the Tour of Mt. Blanc in Chamonix, France) and we loved it! The course and technicality differed from our first tour and we had to adjust our expectations of runnablity and timing but the views did not disappoint! Iban met with us in Vielha before we started our trek and gave us many great suggestions for our tour and was friendly and approchable. We were able to contact him as needed with questions about weather, etc, which was really nice. Expect steep and technical climbs up and down with stunning views of lakes, dams, rivers and mountains. We had a few days of excellent running but the rest was mostly fast-hiking as the descents were very technical. We stayed in cozy hotels along the way and our bags made it without issue each and every day. Dinner and breakfast was served in the hotels we stayed in and we found the food to be ok, with a few excellent exceptions along the way, breakfast was always plentiful and varied, even for vegetarians like us. We recommend venturing out in Vielha for a drink and a snack as the town is quaint and lovely with many options for drinking and dining. Weather can be quite unpredictable depending on what area of the mountains you’re running through so pack warm clothes and rain jackets in your day pack. Stop along the way for coffee or a snack from the mountain refuges, there was always a warm bowl of something to be had, a bathroom and water, nothing restores the soul from a long day of hard running quite like a bowl of warm soup or a piece of cake. Overall we had an amazing time running through the Pyrenees! People were friendly (even when we didn’t understand the local dialect) and helpful and we appreciated an opportunity to see this epically beautiful part of the world. Runcation once again put together a great trip for us! Count us in for the next one!”
“My first running centered vacation and it’s all I ever want to do in the future now. Everything was as advertised. The guides were great and very attentive. No wrong turns and they were great about setting expectations for each day and ensuring we all had a good time. They were also excellent photographers and I came away with some really great shots. Everyone in the group was incredibly friendly and added to the experience. I would do this and others again in a heart beat and am already missing the crew and mountains.”
“We really enjoyed this self-guided tour. The Tour du Mont Blanc is such a special trail, with such spectacular views. The logistics of the trip were well planned out and the itinerary was great. Everything was seamless, from the baggage transfer to checking in and out of the accommodations. Thanks for a great time!”
“We (a couple in our mid 40s) went on the July Runcation Dolomites Hut-to-Hut trip in 2024. We absolutely loved every minute of it and cannot recommend Runcation and these trips highly enough. The preparation was easy because of the clear and accurate information we had in advance. This made the trip a total joy. We knew what to pack, how far we’d be traveling each day and the elevation gain, where we’d be staying and more. Runcation made this a stress free trip. Our guides were absolute experts on the local history, flora and fauna and terrain. They were well-received and familiar at each refugio and this meant we were all well-received and welcomed. The accommodations were great, varied and fun and our group got along wonderfully. All in all, this was a terrific experience and I’d recommend it to anyone. We met repeat-Runcation customers which always gives you confidence in the company and would definitely travel with Runcation again.”
“8 days beginning June 12, 2024. The Alps are phenomenal and the trail itself is amazing! We got lucky with only a day of tough weather. That day felt like a real accomplishment. The snow was high and we enjoyed it. Wildflowers were beautiful. The Refugio and hotel bookings were great. The airport transfers were perfect. The luggage transfers also without any issue. Others were envious that we did not have to carry heavy packs and had clean clothes to wear. We enjoyed the hotel and rest day in Courmayeur. The hotel did our laundry same day for a nominal fee, which was fantastic! The GPS route files were perfect and I relied on them while leaving my phone in airplane mode to preserve battery. There were a few short stretches of road running, which I welcomed for the variety! I also liked the overall mileage plan, which for us was: long day, short day, long, rest, long, short, long, short. We got fitter as the days went by. We met lots of pleasant and interesting people from all over the world. I highly recommend this trip. I enjoyed early season as the trails were not crowded. On some days I was alone for hours and loved that too.”
“My wife and I just returned from an incredible journey with Runcation Travel. As professionals, the plan was to combine fitness with travel, not just lay on a beach. We wanted to embark on an adventure that would not only test our limits but also allow us to explore the world in a unique way. This trip provided just that. We discovered a whole new side to our love for running and travel. Together, we ran in places we’d only dreamt of even as we tackled high-altitude terrain. The experience reminded us that nature’s challenges keep us humble and appreciative of every moment. We’ve come back with incredible memories and a renewed sense of adventure. If you’re like most of us, a professional and still seeking new horizons, consider Runcation Travel for your next journey. It’s never too late to embrace adventure and create memories that will last a lifetime. Liz Gill is the founder, and you will appreciate her experience, knowledge, and support.”
“This was an awesome trip, and a wonderful experience! The trip was well planned out with great runs, but also plenty of downtime. Each of the runs were incredible and always ended up in beautiful scenery and sites. With a wonderful group of people that I met and have to say this was one of the best vacations I’ve ever taken!!”
“Highly recommend! Perfect Peruvian adventure for the outdoorsy person. We enjoyed solitude in Choquequirao while learning more of Inca history.”
“It was an amazing trip to be running in the mountains with a group of amazing people and guided safely by the best running guides! The views were just breathtaking. Highly recommended for those looking to explore the Dolomites up close on foot”
“Spectacular trails, great group & guide and excellent accommodation in Cortina. I liked that the group size was only 8 and the spa on the final day was amazing! Overall a wonderful experience!”
“What an incredible experience with a tour organization I fully recommend! I did the Italian Dolomites Hut-to-Hut tour and it was perfect. The organization from Runcation itself was great. Liz, the founder was very responsive via email in the weeks leading up to providing us with a detailed itinerary of what to expect each day and what to pack.GUIDES: Liz turned out to be the second guide on our trip so it was lovely to meet her in person and have her share her passion for the area & her company. The other guide, Dario, a native of Italy was witty, patient, fun, and worked extra hard to make sure we all had incredible photos for the day.LOCATION & ROUTE: The scenery along the route we covered was unreal. It very much felt off the beaten track (despite it being a well-traversed route in the Dolomites). Lots of single track and very technical terrain. Prioritize ankle strength…you will thank me later! The climbs were no joke…lots of hiking on those (yet some more experienced folks were able to run parts of it) and some very steep downhills that weren’t very runnable. Be prepared to not be running this entire route…I’d say 50/50 run/hike…maybe 65/35 if you can run some of the climbs.LEVEL: This trip was rated as level 3. I was not an experienced trail runner coming into this - I pretty much live at sea level and the most I can get out in trail runs in the area is 200-400m of gain. But I have run a few road marathons and done some multi-day trekking trips previously and I felt perfectly fit for this trip. I was one of the ‘slowest’ at climbing but easily caught up with the group during the flatter sections. Our pace range was fairly large, a big fast group up front and a slower climbing group in the back. If you’re really fast I would expect some more waiting time as you’ll have to stop at some junctions for the group to get back together.ACCOMMODATION & MEALS: All Rifugio’s were clean and had comfortable beds with sheets and showers. Only 1 location had paid showers. Sometimes we were 4 to a room, and sometimes 14 which was a lot, but added to the adventure in a sense! As for meals, breakfast & dinner was plenty with many options. The one thing I didn’t realize is that we would stop for lunch every day whereas I thought we’d run through lunch and then if people wanted to eat lunch at the Rifugio we could. I brought many snacks to take me up to dinner time but ended up not eating many of them since we were eating a good lunch after all and too much time would go by with the full stop so I had to eat anyway. Lunch was not included.OVERALL: I really enjoyed my experience and will not hesitate to book another one with this company. The main thing is to keep an open mind and appreciate how lucky you are to be doing what you love (running) in one of the most incredible landscapes you’ll see!”
“This trip exceeded expectations and will be a cherished memory forever. We’re already talking about when we’ll go back. We lucked out with weather and all the bag transfers were seamless and straightforward.”
“Unforgettable trip - beautiful mountains and valleys, technical yet fun trails with plenty of runnable parts, comfortable and clean accommodation and best of all - an amazing group of strangers who became friends. Shoutout to our guides Dario and Chiara for the constant encouragement and never leaving us slower runners behind! Would give anything to relive this trip again!”
“My wife and I had such a great time all thanks to Runcation and the itinerary they built for us. All we had to do was give them a few pieces of information and all the logistics were taken care of by them. This made our trip stress free from the planning process through the end of our vacation. We will definitely use their service again in the future.”
“My first trip with Runcation and it did not disappoint! The accommodations, transports, and trail runs were well organized; hotels well-appointed and clean. The views of course were breath-taking and worth every bit of uphill pain. Minus others that were dealing with injuries, I was the slowest of the group. Our guide Dario made sure to check in on me often and remind me not to feel pressured to keep up with everyone else. I really appreciated that. Will definitely consider doing another Runcation.”
“We just finished the Dolomites trip with Dario and Chiara and we wanted to share this with you.The trip was far beyond our expectations and a lot of that had to do with our guides. They were outstanding in so many ways! Dario was great with the logistics and keeping us on task. He would check in on anyone having a hard time and give helpful running advice to all that wanted it. We had a mixed group of levels with some strong runners and Dario would challenge them to push on some of the climbs leaving us all with smiles in awe of how they could move. It was great to have his expertise and ability for the stronger runners but also his kind heart checking on the ones behind. He always seemed aware of everyones needs and abilities, keeping us positive and enjoying ourselves as runners seeing this beautiful landscape for the first time. When there was a rocky descent, Dario took the time to show me two different ways I could hold my body to protect myself from falling but also go faster and have more control. He also went above and beyond to help me on the more exposed sections when I was fearful of the heights. He would stand and assist each runner over any difficult spot. Dario took amazing photographs as well, always knowing how to capture the light and scenery. When I asked Dario if we could surprise my partner with a birthday cake at the Refugio, both he and Chiara helped me make Danny’s day special and went way above and beyond.Chiara was so kind and patient with the runners in the back. Always smiling and never making them feel less than the others. She also helped many runners feel more confident and with advice on their techniques. Chiara helped one of our group improve her posture while running to relieve the strain on her back. The runner was so grateful she spoke high praises the next day. Dario and Chiara made a great team! The entire trip was phenomenal and has given us moments and memories to cherish for the rest of our lives! I cannot thank Dario and Chiara enough for all they did to make it special to all. You are truly lucky to have such wonderful people leading the trails.Thank you so much. We will be back for sure and pass on our amazing experience to all who we can.”
“It was a blast. Meticulously planned and perfectly executed by Runcation! All of our days were magical on the trail.”
“I had a wonderful trip! The Dolomites were the perfect location for a trail running vacation, and Liz picked a wonderful route for us! The refugios were fantastic, comfortable lodging with great food and drink. I would highly recommend this trip!”
“This week long adventure in the Italian Dolomites was the perfect addition to my summer travels. Our guide, Liz, was super welcoming and made sure everything ran seamlessly. She gave us lots of information leading up to the trip, and there was no stress throughout the trip at all. The accommodation was a unique experience, and the food was great. This was a great way to meet people as a person traveling on their own, but would also be great for couples of groups of friends. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone interested in an active holiday..”
“Amazing trip! Can say enough great things about my trip to the Dolomites. This was all I could ask for, amazing lodging, food, trails, and just beautiful!”
“My friends and I did a self-guided route on the Mont Blanc trail. We planned our trip only a week in advance and Liz was incredibly helpful and accommodating with our group. The trip itself was stunning and I have been recommending it to friends ever since I got back. I would 100% do Runcation again. The Patagonia and Slovenia trips are very high on my list.”
“Where to begin?! This trip was as advertised then some! Liz was approachable, friendly, knowledgeable and for others. She brought on another running buddy Ben to help (who does tour guiding professionally) and as a team they led us well and provided a space for hard work, seeing beauty in the world and in the others in our group. They treated us by showing us the best that Mammoth Lakes and Yosemite had to offer. I felt like a local rather than a tourist with them. Even though both of them were beasts at trail running they were able to serve all levels of runners there no matter the level of skill. But yes you do need to train to be able to be strong enough to complete the mission. And as I reflect on the trip, the experience is more than just the few days there. It’s also the training that led to it that made it all the more special. The routes were challenging but well thought out! I mean, some of the most beautiful trails I’ve been on… photos for days! And they took a pulse of the group to see how we were feeling physically and were quick with contingency plans / alternate routes. One of them would lead the group and the other would sweep to ensure no one would get lost or left behind. I could write about every detail of the trip, but you just need to experience it for yourself. I’m already looking to doing it again and maybe even exploring some of the other trips. Some of the chillest and real cats I’ve ever met! Infinity stars out of 5. Can’t recommend this enough if you love exploring, running, and being outside. This business needs to blow up because the quality and service is JUST THAT GOOD! Bravo. Standing Ovation. Runcation forever.”
“What makes a trip special is the people in it, and this group of 14 runners and 2 guides was fantastic. The guides especially took every effort to make sure you were happy and taken care of, and that you knew what to expect each day and evening. The luggage transport to the huts each night was a huge bonus, and made it possible to run with just a running vest. The accommodations and food enabled the proper rest and recovery to go out again the next day. It’s easy to get hooked on hut to hut trail running after this trip!”
“Runcation in the Dolomites was a dream vacation. It was the perfect mix of challenging yet rewarding running and hiking. We experienced endless breathtaking views and a spectacular scenery, we enjoyed plenty of cappuccinos, wine, delicious food, and restful afternoons, and made new friends to top it all off! If you are a runner who loves trails and beautiful mountains, I strongly encourage you to go on this trip!”
“Incredible experience! The perfect amount of work and play. Spent all day on the trails running and hiking with knowledgeable run guides, and then got to enjoy the evenings wining and dining. Very well organized with out having every second mapped out. I will definitely be back for more!!”
“I did the Full send running in Peru. The environment, food and experiences was great! If you are thinking about doing it - make sure you are trained enough. I live in a flat part of Sweden a needed more uphill training. Also heat can be a bit thing. One of our days was really hot and going uphill there wasn’t really any shade for a couple of hours. Be well trained and you can enjoy it!”
“Such an incredible time!! Great planning by Runcation, I had zero issues and everything went perfectly :) I felt safe traveling solo having the trip planned for me and would highly recommend!!”
“I traveled to the Italian Dolomites in 2019. That was hands down the hardest thing I have ever done mentally and physically, yet it was also the most amazing! Liz took care of every detail so all we had to do was show up and pack each day. As a solo traveler I was relieved to find quite a few other solo travelers and our overall group bonded quite well. The refugios were great, the food was good and the scenery is beyond gorgeous. Pictures don’t do it justice, but this was absolutely the trip of a lifetime.”
“Runcation was awesome. We had a fantastic time. The entire week was run really smoothly, Liz and the other guides did such a great job planning a variety of runs and all the logistics. Each day had an incredible run and lots of time to hang out with the other people on the trip. Would recommend a trip like this to any runner.”
“What an absolutely fantastic runcation! I’ve always wanted to run the trails of Patagonia and be dazzled by the scenery and this trip didn’t disappoint. We stayed in great hotels every night, including a mountain refugio right next to a glacier (ridiculous!). It was a great combination of “getting after it” on the trails, and then enjoying tasty food and awesome Malbec at night. Liz, the trip organizer, had everything so dialed in that it all went off without a hitch. As a Type-A planner, it was liberating to turn off my brain, not worry about details, and just have a good time. Our local guide, Matias, was also top-notch. He was not only a total mountain badass (just climbed Mount Fitz Roy the week before), but was endlessly knowledgeable about the flora and fauna as well. When he saw me staring at this huge red-headed woodpecker he regaled me with so many wonderful facts about the Magellanic Woodpecker, third largest in the world. He also said this guy would not be alone, that his lady friend was sure to be around. Matias scanned the trees and sure enough, there she was! Google them, they’re incredible!! Besides running through the crazy Lenga forests and seeing so many cool animals, I really loved the camaraderie of all the runners in the group. Whether running on the trails or guzzling coffee at breakfast, the group dynamic was super fun and really made the trip into something special. Thanks Liz, you really nailed it!”
“The Dolomites Runcation trip was everything I could want in a vacation: stunning nature, fun & challenging activities, delicious local cuisine, awesome travel companions, & zero logistical headaches. The Runcation team executed the trip flawlessly allowing me to enjoy the trip from beginning to end without sweating any details. Thank you Runcation for helping me fall in love with the Dolomites. I am already fantasizing about my next Runcation destination!”
“My Runcation experience exceeded every expectation I had! The accommodations, the food, the trails, and the people were all absolutely amazing!! We started as strangers and we left as life long friends! The route was challenging, remote, and beautiful! I wouldn’t change one thing about my adventure and I can’t wait to go on another!!!”
“As an older couple (in our mid-60s), we chose a self-guided Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) option to travel at our own pace. Given we only decided to book the tour relatively late, we knew accommodation along the route would be challenging to secure. So, we were delighted to leave all the planning logistics in the experienced hands of Runcation. The team devised an ideal schedule to suit our requirements, successfully booked all our accommodation and, most importantly, arranged the much-appreciated bag transfers. To ensure we stayed on track, Runcation provided detailed daily notes and colour-coded Gaia-friendly gpx files for each tour day, with options to make the route simpler or more challenging, depending on how we were travelling. They even provided suggested packing lists. When we hit an unexpected “road bump” (i.e. succumbed to traveller’s tummy), Runcation responded exceptionally quickly to our messages, providing solutions to the immediate issues. Despite the illness, we finished the TMB with huge smiles and memories for a lifetime. We highly recommend Runcation to anyone considering the TMB!”
“Absolutely stunning scenery and trails. Dario was amazing and we had a very lovely like minded and capability group. Dario was very accommodating for those with injuries and made sure everyone could take part without slowing others down or shorten routes for us who wanted to crack on. I only booked for the first 3 days which was really only 2 days of running, the last 3 days would have been preferred if an option. Hotel was lovely, clean, very spacious rooms, great location and epic breakfast. Definitely keen for another trip in the Dolomites or over to Slovenia. Fantastic trip. Rebecca (Bec)”
“Incredible trip that impossibly got better day by day! Well planned and accommodation was ‘varied’ but excellent given the squeeze on availability. Transfers were smooth and easy to navigate thanks to the information Runcation Travel provided. We felt that we had everything we needed to enjoy our self guided adventure. Recommend this trip and Runcation Travel.”
“I traveled on a Hut-to-Hut Dolomites Runcation in July 2022 and it was truly amazing. We traveled with a group of 8 hikers/runners. As a consistent runner living in a very flat part of the world, the mountainous terrain was hard to train for and was certainly a technical challenge, but our guide led us through an incredible well-paced run/hike that met our experience-level and was incredible. Runcation and our knowledgeable/ skilled/ friendly Italian guides made sure that all of our logistics were accounted for and went smoothly (luggage transport, route, lodging, meals). This meant we could really focus on the journey from hut to hut (the rifugios were pretty luxurious “huts”!) and enjoy every minute along the way. The terrain and route and landscapes were truly unbelievable. Highly recommend!!”
“This was a truly phenomenal experience. The Runcation team coordinated all of the lodging and bag transportation seamlessly, so the only thing we had to worry about was enjoying ourselves— which we did in droves!! They communicated everything extremely thoroughly beforehand and were immediately responsive whenever any questions arose.”
“This trip was both challenging and relaxing. The ability to have life slow down but being able to move my body; all the while meeting great people and enjoy the most beautiful views. Dario and Liz were great guides. They made our transitions from rifugios so seamless. They were able to not only accommodates our different running paces but out different needs as humans out on the trail and at the various nightly accommodations! Thank you!”
“ The guides, Dario and Chiara, attention to our safety and the quality of our experience are what made phenomenal life long memories.”
“This was the trip of a lifetime for me. Exceptional views, great company and well organized. It was not “easy” and you should be in good shape and able to handle the climbs if you want to enjoy it, but if you’re up for it , you will not be disappointed. Patagonia is incredible and well worth the effort to get there. Runcation travel did a great job.”
“What an amazing trip. This was my 2nd trip with Runcation, and I’ll certainly be doing a 3rd! Such a great mix of challenging days on the trail, with delicious meals/stops along the way, great hotels with spas, and towns and trails I never would have visited without this trip. Great group of people too :)”
“All the planning details were taken care of for me on this self guided trip. The gpx. files were very useful, as was the daily route description and stats for distance and elevation gain and loss. This was a tough trip to do in just 6 days, but absolutely possible if you are willing to spend long days in the mountains. The scenery was stunning and the remoteness felt very special. There was less running than I anticipated due to steep and technical terrain, so some days took longer than I thought they would to get to the Rifugio for the night.”
“My husband and I went on the Hut to Hut run in the Dolomites, July 2022. What a luxury to have all accommodations booked and luggage transport taken care of, for us! The scenery was unimaginable, and you just can’t imagine the beauty-you have to be there! We had 8-15 miles runs each day and felt challenged by the ascents and terrain, but not defeated. (We are from Ohio, NO moutains.) The runcation organizer, Liz and guide, Dario took care of all of the logistics and it was amazing to just have to cover ground an eat a bunch of great food! Thanks for a fantastic experience.”
“Our trip was amazing, all thanks to Liz and her team at Runcation. All the bookings, check-ins and transfers went smoothly and we had a fantastic time running (and hiking) trails that took us to breathtaking views and unique places we never would have gotten to on our own! They did a great job of accommodating a variety of levels of fitness and experience out on mountain trails. We are definitely planning to book with them again for a future adventure.”
“It was a really good trip. Liz did a really good job at organizing everything and making sure everybody was comfortable and safe. She hired a guide for the slower runners/hikers and did a good job.”
“11/10 trip. The guide and organizer know the trails well! And nothing can beat these views. The distance and elevation are challenging but so gratifying. If you are someone who likes an adventure this trip is well worth it.”
“Went on the Dolomites/Slovenia trip. It was super-well organized and we ran in beautiful places. Our guides new the trails well. It was a great experience meeting like-minded people who enjoyed the trails and running. The hotels had nice spas to help us recover hard after playing hard in the mountains. We encountered some really bad weather in Slovenia, but the organizers and guides adapted plans to allow us to safely still get a run in when we made it to our next hotel. Highly recommend this trip or any other by Runcation Travel!”
“I had a great week with Runcation in Patagonia. The info material I was provided with prior the trip was very useful and made planning much easier. The group was very nice and welcoming and we shared cool moments on and off the trails; we spent most of our afternoons/ evenings in cafes/ restaurants which was really nice! It was a good mix of outdoor activities (exploring the trails etc.) and also activities like visiting the glacier national park and the refugio. The stay at the refugio was really unique and my personal highlight of the trip. The guides were very welcoming, payed attention to all kinds of running levels, made a clear briefing day by day and also explained lots about Patagonias nature its history etc. Unfortunately I suffered an injury 2w before the trip so I was thinking about canceling the trip - which fortunately I did not do. I was still able to walk all the routes —> the out&back routes around El Chalten are optimum for doing so. One simply cannot get lost. Transport to the different hotels and baggage transport was very well organized. I can definitely recommend this trip. An absolutely great way to explore the beauty of Patagonia.”
“Thanks for the amazing trip and memories. Our guides were perfect and made everything so lovely for us. Highly recommend to all!”
“This trip was an incredible adventure! The mountain scenery was stunning, the runs where challenging but fun, the food was great, the Rifugios were comfortable, and the guides were amazing!! It was so nice to have everything booked for us, to have the guides lead the way, and for luggage to be transported - you pretty much just get to show up and enjoy the ride! For those interested in signing up, I think it’s important to enforce that there is a lot of steep, technical terrain, both up and down. And accommodations vary from Rifugio to Rifugio - there are a few nights when you will be in a big bunk room with the entire group, and other nights when the group is split into smaller rooms, and always shared bathrooms. This is in the trip information but important to consider if that’s not what you are looking for or prepared for. I felt the trip was an amazing and unique experience and would 100% do a Runcation again!”
“An unforgettable experience. The Italian Dolomites are spectacular. Each day was filled with challenging runs, great food and great company. Our guides were fantastic. The rifugios vary and the shared accommodations in them may not be for all, however overall the experience is excellent and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering it.”
